Services offered at Atlantic Wellness Center
Spinal Adjustments – A spinal adjustment improves mobility and nerve function throughout the entire body. A healthy nervous system controls every aspect of your body. Spinal adjustments enhance recovery from injuries, improve immune system function, help with easier pregnancy and delivery, and maintain better balance for seniors leaving less likelihood of falling that often causes hip fracture. The conditions they commonly treat with spinal adjustments include back pains, headaches, arm or leg pain, herniated or degenerative discs.

Spinal Decompression Therapy – Thanks to the concerted efforts of a team of top physicians and medical engineers, Spinal Decompression Therapy was developed to effectively treat neck, low back pain and sciatica resulting from herniated or degenerated discs. Spinal Decompression Therapy not only significantly reduces back pain in many patients, but also enables the majority of patients to return to more active lifestyles.

Massage Therapy – Massage Therapy is used to release muscle tension. It improves the circulation of blood through the body and removes metabolic waste products from muscles. Massage therapy locates and deactivates “trigger points,” which are often tender areas where muscles and nerves have been damaged or acquired a re-occurring spasm or kink that worsens painfully when aggravated. It also increases feelings of well-being, enhances tissue elasticity and flexibility, increases range of motion in joints, relieves muscle aches and stiffness, improves circulation of blood, improves immune system functioning and a large variety of other health conditions.

Acupuncture – Each treatment is uniquely designed based on your specific health history and pattern of imbalance, avoiding a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Sterile, single-use needles about the width of a hair are inserted at specific acupoints to aid the smooth flow of energy and blood throughout the body, bringing relaxation and restoring homeostasis. This can help with insomnia and sleep disorders, hormonal balance, menstrual disorders, fertility/pregnancy support, allergies, headaches and acute and chronic pain.

Laser Therapy – Patients benefit from reduced pain and inflammation, increased range of motion and enhanced tissue repair. Laser therapy can be used safely over metal implants and patients with circulation and neuropathy problems. These variations in laser delivery produce different effects on tissues resulting in shorter treatment times and better treatment outcomes. The conditions commonly treated with Laser Therapy include plantar fasciitis, tennis or golfer’s elbow, knee pain and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Weight Loss and Nutritional Service – The Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method is a medically designed protocol containing two key components – weight loss and a healthier lifestyle education to assist you in maintaining your results after dieting. During this program you will receive weekly one-on-one coaching, lifestyle education and guidance, a personalized approach to setting weight loss goals, based on your health profile and an understanding of how food affects and is utilized by the body, including what causes fat storage.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a chiropractic adjustment?
Chiropractors feel for proper motion between joints. When improper movement is discovered chiropractors will use various contact points with their hands or an instrument to deliver a “controlled movement” to restore joint mobility. Chiropractors work predominantly with the spine but any joint can be adjusted. The purpose is to allow joints to move as naturally as possible thus increasing blood flow and removing nerve interference.

What causes the sound made during a chiropractic adjustment?
That sound is not your spine “cracking” or “popping” like most people think. The sound is created by gas (in this case, nitrogen) rushing in to fill the partial vacuum created when the joints are slightly separated. Another example of this phenomenon would be the “pop” sound you hear when the cork is taken out of a champagne bottle. Not all chiropractic adjusting techniques produce this noise. In fact, some adjusting techniques use little force and thus produce no noise at all.
Once you see a chiropractor, do you have to go for the rest of your life?
No. The extent to which you choose to benefit from your chiropractic care is ultimately up to you. Each and every one of us is solely responsible for the quality of our health and well-being. However, we do strongly urge all to consider lifetime, wellness chiropractic care. This is where the long-term, lasting benefits of care are enjoyed. Regular exercise and healthy eating habits are a lifestyle decision and so is lifetime, wellness chiropractic care. You need to remain subluxation free for life.

Should I continue chiropractic care if I don’t have any symptoms and I feel better?
Yes. Just because symptoms disappear it does not mean your subluxations are corrected. Most have spinal degeneration (decay) which has taken years to develop. The trauma of the birth process, slips, falls, accidents and countless other stresses over the course of your lifetime adversely affect the health of your spine. The longer you wait to have your spine checked by a chiropractor, the longer it will take to correct your subluxations. However, how you choose to use chiropractic care is ultimately up to you. It has been our experience that those who stop care when they are “feeling fine” return with the same health challenge(s) which brought them to our office in the first place… only it’s usually gotten worse. On the other hand, those practice members who commit to long-term, wellness chiropractic care, find their health challenge(s) rarely return and they enjoy a higher quality of life and health.
