Paradise Pointe Assisted Living & Memory Care Celebrates Three Years of Compassionate,Nurse-Led Care in Ormond Beach

Nearly three years ago, Paradise Pointe Assisted Living & Memory Care opened its doors with a vision rooted not in trends or expansion plans, but in love, experience, and a deeply personal calling. As Paradise Pointe prepares to celebrate its third anniversary this February, the Ormond Beach community reflects on a senior living community born from one woman’s journey as both a nurse and a daughter.

Paradise Pointe is proudly nurse-owned and operated, led by Darlinda Copeland, RN, MHA, CEO, whose more than 35 years of healthcare experience shaped every detail of the community. A registered nurse and seasoned healthcare executive, Darlinda previously served as Chief Operating Officer of a local hospital, where she built a reputation for patient-centered care, operational excellence, and compassionate leadership.

But the inspiration behind Paradise Pointe goes far beyond professional credentials.

As Darlinda walked alongside her own parents through the aging process—providing care, advocating for dignity, and navigating the complexities of senior health—she saw firsthand the need for a different kind of senior living community. One where clinical excellence and heartfelt compassion could coexist. One where residents were known personally, treated with respect, and supported in living lives filled with purpose and meaning.

That vision became Paradise Pointe.

From left to right: Robert Gammon (Darlinda’s brother), Zane and Meagan Arrington (son-in-law and daughter), Barbara Gammon (Darlinda’s mother), Darlinda Copeland, and Tori, Carlei, Trevor, Tanner, and Chelsy Copeland (son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren). Barbara Gammon’s legacy and inspiration continue to live on through Paradise Pointe’s mission of compassionate, locally rooted care.

From the earliest stages—writing the business plan, purchasing the land, and securing investor support—Darlinda worked closely with local physicians, nurses, healthcare professionals, and community business leaders who shared her belief that Ormond Beach deserved a senior living option built by people who live, work, and serve here. Together, they designed a community that reflects the heart of Ormond Beach: neighborly, connected, and deeply committed to helping seniors live well.

Paradise Pointe is truly locally owned and operated, shaped by community members who understand the values, needs, and expectations of the families they serve.

Throughout the journey of bringing Paradise Pointe to life, Darlinda experienced profound personal loss. Her father, Don Gammon, passed away in 2022, and her mother, Barbara Gammon, passed away in 2025. Both were instrumental in inspiring the vision behind Paradise Pointe, and their legacy continues to live on through the community Darlinda created in their honor.

Following Barbara’s passing, Paradise Pointe established the Barbara Gammon Nursing Scholarship Fund, a meaningful initiative designed to support current and future nursing staff as they further their education—reinforcing Darlinda’s belief that investing in caregivers strengthens the care residents receive.

Since opening, Paradise Pointe Assisted Living & Memory Care has remained steadfast in its mission to deliver exceptional, individualized care. As a licensed Extended Congregate Care (ECC) community, Paradise Pointe offers an elevated level of service that allows residents to age in place with confidence. This designation enables enhanced nursing oversight, medication management, and personal assistance—all within the comfort of a familiar, home-like environment.

Today, Paradise Pointe stands as a reflection of its founder’s values: clinically strong, deeply compassionate, and proudly local.

As Paradise Pointe approaches three years of serving the Ormond Beach community this February, the dates remain deeply symbolic—celebrating the license approval on February 14, the first resident move-in on February 15, and the beginning of a legacy built on love, leadership, and locally rooted care.

Paradise Pointe remains committed to the same promise that inspired its beginning—providing a place where seniors are treated with dignity, supported by expert care, and encouraged to live meaningful, engaged lives.
