It’s officially fall in Florida, which means it now takes five minutes for you to start sweating outside, instead of the usual 10.5 seconds! In all seriousness, the weather is cooling down but the rain is picking up, so it’s the perfect time to move your health and wellness activities inside. In the last few months, I have had the opportunity to visit three local businesses that are keeping the heat of summer going all year long.
REVIVE SALT LOUNGE
Revive Salt Lounge at 3624 S. Atlantic Ave in Daytona Beach Shores has two unique therapies that we Floridians will enjoy: a salt room and an infrared sauna (pictured below). For the salt room, I had the chance to walk through the crystals along the floor and relax in a zero-gravity chair to breathe deep from the walls, lamps, and previously mentioned floors, covered in pink Himalayan salt. I had the room to myself on the day that I went, but there is enough space for you to book with a small group of friends.

After cleaning my respiratory system, I moved into the private sauna session. The full spectrum infrared sauna is meant for individuals or couples and uses heat to relax sore muscles and joints and move you into further relaxation. The owner, Angie, is working to add massage therapists into the space as well, to make it a whole spa experience. You can see more of Revive’s info on our Local Listings page!
HOTWORX
If you’re more interested in movement than relaxation, but still like the individual sauna rooms, then HOTWORX in Daytona Beach is a perfect spot to check out! Located at 1173 West International Speedway in Daytona, HOTWORX has slightly larger infrared saunas for you and up to two friends. These rooms have adjustable temperatures and 24-hour access to virtual instructors that guide you through simple stretches or, on the more intensive end, “hot core” and “hot buns” workouts for your abs, hips, and glutes. I tried the “Hot Stretch” class this summer and enjoyed how the heat made it easier to “warm up” to get into the stretching.

OXYGEN YOGA & FITNESS
Lastly, for a group sauna experience, Oxygen Yoga & Fitness in Downtown Daytona has classes led by an in-person teacher in the “Far Infrared” space at 126 West International Speedway Blvd. I took the “Hot Freedom Flow” class with Kelli back in April, which was a faster paced yoga session. You may remember the March issue of ECC that featured Oxygen and studio owner, Sneha, sharing about her passion to make a (literally and figuratively) warm and welcoming space for folks of all abilities to come work out. Everyone was supportive of each other, and accommodations were suggested for more complicated poses.
While I’m not the biggest fan of sweating each time I walk outside, I enjoyed each of these experiences in the heat to promote everything from relaxation to heart health to muscle strength. As the fall temps continue dropping, you know these studios will keep their spaces hot!
