May is one of my favorite months of the year because it’s not only my birthday but my husband’s too. We’re only six days apart! While this year isn’t a big milestone, I’m turning 42—and can I just say, I absolutely love 42—this past year has been one of the best. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary, made major changes in our business, and the positive feedback we’ve received has been so encouraging.
A LOOK BACK AT APRIL
I wanted to give you all a quick update on how some of our April events turned out. The Event had an incredible turnout! We saw so many new faces, and thanks to your support, they’ve raised over $20,000 so far this year for local youth sports programs.

If you know of a team that could use a little extra help, there’s a fund request form available at TheEventNSB.com. Just remember, the team must be located within Southeast Volusia.
Jeep Beach was, of course, another huge success—and this year was actually our first time participating in their welcome event! Kelsey, her husband Scotty, Avery, Cassie, and I attended and passed out magazines with the official schedule.
WHAT’S COMING UP
This month, Rockville is back at the Daytona International Speedway from May 15–18. You can check out the full lineup inside this issue and online.
Speaking of music, my husband is celebrating his birthday the only way he knows how— rocking out on stage! He and his band, 5 Time Shag, have a bunch of live shows lined up in May. You can find their full schedule inside the magazine.
STAY INFORMED, STAY INVOLVED
Inside this issue, East Coast Current freelance writer—and one of my best friends since college—Mimi McKee reports on the Deering Park development. I encourage every one of our readers to take a moment to read her article. She worked hard to fact-check and bring you the real story about what’s happening.
Something I’ve learned over the years: if you feel passionate about making a change in your community, the only way to make a real difference is to stay active and informed. Whether your concern is the growth in New Smyrna Beach, the flooding in Edgewater, or another issue close to your heart, action—not just conversation—is what truly moves the needle.
We genuinely strive here at East Coast Current to provide you with facts and real information, so you can make the best decisions for yourself and your family.
CHEERS TO A NEW MONTH
As for us, you’ll probably find us somewhere out and about—celebrating birthdays, enjoying live music, and making the most of these beautiful days.
