ECC 100th Issue Milestone

Celebration at the Iconic Streamline Hotel

On August 19, 2023, East Coast Current celebrated the publication of its 100th issue at the iconic Streamline Hotel in Daytona Beach. Founded in February 2015, the publication quickly established itself as a premier source of local news, events and features for communities in Volusia County. Since then, the publication has played an integral role in connecting residents, visitors and businesses.

The commemorative event at the Streamline Hotel was a vibrant gathering of the magazine’s dedicated readers, contributors, advertisers and community partners. Attendees enjoyed live music by Faith Micic and Alisa Ulven and shared stories of how the paper has become a wonderful resource for their community connections. The event also included complimentary cocktails and appetizer buffet sponsored by Victory Lane, the restaurant located inside the lobby of The Streamline hotel. Guests were treated to gift bags filled with tokens of appreciation, including gift cards to local businesses and thoughtful mementos.

Against the backdrop of the hotel’s rich history as “the birthplace of Nascar,” as well as the newly modernized lobby and lounge, attendees toasted to the paper’s accomplishments. “We are tremendously grateful for the support and engagement of our readers and partners,” said Tiffany Evers, co-owner and Editor.

“Reaching our 100th issue is a testament to the resilience of local journalism, story telling, and the enduring sense of this community,” added Kelsey Walters, co-owner and Chief Financial Officer.

The cover for the August 2023 issue was a black and white collage of all 100 monthly mastheads. The memorial cover illustrated the newspaper’s evolution throughout the years. The celebration continued with a lively reception on the rooftop bar, of the Streamline Hotel. Underneath the twinkling night sky, attendees enjoyed the Daytona Beach skyline complete with ocean breezes, a fireworks display and neon lights. A DJ played fun, happy music for everyone to dance to.

The event was filmed by Meghan Hughes, founder and CEO of Meghaphone Marketing. Hughes captured the entire atmosphere of camaraderie and festivity. Guests were given the opportunity to share congratulations and well wishes with the entire ECC team.

As East Coast Current looks ahead to its next decade, the publication remains committed to delivering local, positive and engaging content that reflects the diverse interests and voices of Volusia County.
