Celebrating Seven Years in Print: East Coast Current Magazine

East Coast Current was born in early 2015 after the co-owners, Tiffany Evers, Carol Court and Kelsey Walters, saw the need for a strong community-based media outlet in Volusia County. We went to print with our first publication in February of that year and are celebrating seven years in print this year with this being our 83rd issue under our belt!

We are active members of 4 Volusia County Chambers of Commerce. Carol was awarded Ambassador of the Year in 2018 by the Daytona Regional Chamber and again in 2020 by the Port Orange – South Daytona (POSD) Chamber, where she has served on the Board since 2018. Next year she begins her role as Chairman of the Board for POSD.

Tiffany served on the Board of Directors for the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce from 2016-2019.

In 2016, we celebrated one year in print with a massive ribbon cutting ceremony and were the first in the county to combine all three chambers for one.

We strive to provide positive community news and events, with plenty of intriguing content our readers look forward to. Our team of writers are dedicated to Volusia County and what makes our community thrive.

We have a strong presence online and work hard to provide necessary community information, like up-to-the-minute updates during hurricanes or even dispelling local myths like shark attacks in NSB and ravenous chickens running rampant on Flagler Avenue.

When it comes to telling stories about great people doing great things in our community, we make sure to go right to the source. Kelsey photographs for our articles while Tiffany interviews businesses and locals to ensure their story is told.

Like everyone, ECC was heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. For the safety and wellbeing of our readers, advertisers and everyone involved in our publication, we were unable to print for two months in 2020. We remained very active online, giving minute-by-minute local updates on valuable resources, closures and testing and vaccine sites.

We have continued to grow year after year because of the amazing support we have received from friends, family, local businesses and our incredible community. We now have our magazine in over 350 locations and print 10,000 copies per month.

Carol is the face of the magazine, building relationships all over Volusia County. She has strong ties in the community and long-lasting relationships with our advertisers. We are proud to say most of our advertisers have been working with us since we started.

We strongly believe in giving back and work closely with several area charities to participate in events and sponsorships. Supporting other locals is one of the most important things we can do with our time.

We celebrate each year with our team of writers, and this publication wouldn’t be possible without them.

From community updates to fresh recipes, hilarious personal tales to the best fishing spots, our ECC family has grown to include some of the best and brightest voices in town.

We are so thankful for the strong friendships and bonds we have created from the wonderful people we have met along the way.
