NOW OPEN on Flagler Avenue: Shades of New Smyrna Beach

Q & A WITH MARY FRANCES STAGE, OWNER

Q: WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO OPEN SHADES OF NSB?

A: I have always wanted to own a boutique along Flagler Avenue. So, I spent some time visiting the shops and businesses from the river to the ocean. I wanted to see what kind of shop I could open that would add to the shopping experience. I decided on specialty sunglasses, and here we are!

Q: WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO VOLUSIA COUNTY?

A: I am from Winter Park, but like many from that area I grew up surfing here. When my kids were little, I did the same thing and we would spend weekends and holidays here. I always told them that one day we would all move here permanently. And that’s exactly what we did five years ago! Now, my son and grandkids all live here as well.

Q: WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER SHOPS IN OUR AREA?

A: I would say that customer service is what really sets us apart. It isn’t just about selling you a pair of sunglasses. Our goal is to match you with a perfect pair of quality shades. Our entire shop is dedicated to bringing you all the top names and newest styles available in eyewear. And as a Floridian, I can tell you that sunglasses are one of the most important accessories to have on you at all times. We can help you protect your eyes in style. As I alway say, “Shades are sunscreen for your eyes.”

Q: WHAT BRANDS ARE YOU EXCITED TO SHOWCASE AT YOUR SHOP?

A: We carry quality brands such as Costa, Oakley, Ray-Ban, Maui Jim, Gucci, Alexander McQueen and much more. The inventory is always updating and we are open every day. If you can’t make it in during normal business hours, personal appointments are available. Just give us a call and we will make the arrangements.
