What Is the Florida Black Bear Kids Fishing Event All About

The Florida Black Bear National Scenic Byway invites families to a fun and educational Kids Fishing Event on Saturday, April 11 at Essex Seafood House (1360 West, 1360 FL-40, Pierson, FL 32180). The event will begin at 9:00 a.m., and fishing activities will wrap up at 11:00 a.m., followed by a complimentary hot dog lunch provided by the event host, Essex Seafood.

This family-friendly event is designed to introduce children to the joys of fishing and the importance of outdoor recreation. Participants will learn casting, rigging, and baiting techniques, helping build confidence and skills for future fishing adventures. Through the support of Fish Florida, Florida Foundation for Responsible Angling, Inc., every participating child will receive their own fishing pole to take home. This event is made possible through the Fish Florida Fishing Equipment Program Grant, which supports youth fishing opportunities and helps connect young people with Florida’s natural resources. More information about the program can be found at: fishfloridatag.org/fishing-equipment-program/. Registration is required, as space is limited. Community members are encouraged to sign up early.
