Backwater Fishing Report

REMEMBERING A LEGEND

I’m dedicating this report to the late, great Flip Pallot! He was a genuine, kind-hearted, and amazing human being—not to mention one of the best anglers this planet has ever known.

I had the chance to meet Flip years ago and later worked with him on various projects. I was hired by Jordan Kahn to help film Uncharted, a story about the early years of fishing in the Everglades and Bahamas and the evolution of boats.

His wife, Diane, worked the early years with my mom, Pam, as a flight attendant. Flip was always quick to answer my call or reply to a text. His words were like the gospel of living and being outdoors.

Flip was born in South Florida on June 6, 1942. Originally a banker, he left his career to become a television host and professional fishing guide. He was also a passionate conservationist. Garden & Gun magazine called him “the most famous angler in the history of saltwater fly fishing,” while the American Museum of Fly Fishing described him as “one of fly fishing’s true greats.” He hosted The Walker’s Cay Chronicles on ESPN from 1992 to 2006.

Flip Pallot passed away in Thomasville, Georgia, on Aug. 26, 2025, at age 83. His legacy as an angler, conservationist, and mentor lives on in everyone lucky enough to have known him.

Thank you, Flip, and until we meet again…
