A Day in the Life at Dutch Oven Bread Company

At Dutch Oven Bread Co., our day starts while the city’s still sleeping. By 3:30 AM, the first baker arrives and loads the oven with sourdough and the proofer with pastries. By 4 AM, the second baker jumps in to shape baguettes and bagels.

By 5:30 AM, the team’s in full swing; almond croissants are filled, cinnamon rolls are frosted, and breads are sliced and packaged. Around 8:30 AM, everything is rolled next door to the café, where it’s displayed and ready for customers!

WHERE TO GET DUTCH OVEN BREAD CO.’s BREAD & PASTRIES

We open at 9 AM, Wednesday through Saturday, at the café attached to our bakery—Wildflour Market, 504 Pullman Rd. in Edgewater. We’re stocked with fresh bread, hot coffee, and a full pastry case. Locals stop in for their usuals, and visitors are pleasantly surprised at what this little destination has to offer!

We’re a small team doing everything by hand, every day. It’s not perfect, but it’s real and we’re so proud of it!

By 2 PM, we’re closed and already thinking about tomorrow. At 5 PM, one of us comes back to feed the starter for the next day’s dough.
