The New Smyrna Beach Board of REALTORS® (NSBBOR) recently partnered with the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce for a hands-on volunteer day with Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Volusia. Together, members from both organizations spent the day working on an active build site, helping construct a new home for a local family.
The event was part of an ongoing effort to give back to the community we serve—not just through real estate, but through service. Volunteers painted, installed siding, and helped with general construction tasks, proving that with a little teamwork and a willingness to get your hands dirty, you can make a meaningful impact.
WHY VOLUNTEER WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
This project also served as a reminder that Habitat for Humanity is always looking for extra help. You don’t need a background in construction to volunteer—just a willingness to show up and pitch in. The Habitat crew provides tools, training, and guidance for anyone who wants to get involved.
“We really enjoyed being out there together and doing something tangible,” said Candace Cecil, NSBBOR President and build volunteer. “It was a good reminder of how easy it is to give back when organizations work together.”
If you’re looking for a way to get involved locally, Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Volusia is a great place to start. Volunteer shifts are flexible, the work is rewarding, and the impact is long-lasting. For more information or to sign up, visit their website or give them a call.
