A Decade of Stories, Growth, and Community in Volusia County

Ten years ago, we embarked on a journey to bring the vibrant stories of our community to life. What started as an idea over blueberry mojitos has grown into a trusted publication that has become a staple in homes and businesses across Central Florida. We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and deeply grateful for the support of our readers, advertisers, and community.

Our very first issue, Volume One, Issue One, was printed in February 2015. Since then, we’ve been committed to publishing every month – though the pandemic caused us to pause for two months. In June 2020, we returned with renewed focus and haven’t looked back. This special issue marks a full decade in business, and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate this milestone with you.

East Coast Current isn’t just a magazine – it’s a part of the community. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working with writers and advertisers who have been with us since the beginning. At the same time, we’ve grown, met new people, shared fresh stories, and spotlighted emerging businesses.

It’s been a joy to watch our community flourish, individuals thrive, and businesses grow. At the heart of it all is the belief that when one of us succeeds, we all succeed. We are truly grateful to be a part of that journey.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU

A huge thank you to our amazing delivery team: Jerry, Robert, Mimi, and Scotty. Each month, we come together to distribute the magazine across the community. A special shoutout to Jerry and his wife, who handle the bulk of our West Volusia deliveries, including DeLand. We couldn’t do this without you!

Q & A WITH KELSEY AND TIFFANY

Q: What inspired you to start East Coast Current?

Tiffany: “From the very beginning, we saw a gap in the local media landscape. We wanted to create something that truly reflected the unique culture of Volusia County and give the community a voice that wasn’t being heard. We envisioned a magazine that would not only inform but also bring people together.”

Q: What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced in these 10 years?

Kelsey: “There have been a few, but I think the biggest was navigating the COVID shutdowns. When we took a break from printing, we shifted our focus to providing up-to-the-minute updates with vital local information on a daily basis. We continue this with major events like hurricanes and have gained a reputation as a strong and reliable source of information without any hidden agenda.”

Q: What are some of the most memorable moments from your journey?

Tiffany: “The first time we had our magazine in print, in our hands, was surreal. Also, the positive response we’ve gotten from readers after publishing special issues that touch on local causes – those have been incredibly rewarding.”

Q: How would you describe your relationship with your co-owner?

Kelsey: “We complement each other very well. She’s the visionary, always thinking big, while I tend to focus on the practical side, making sure everything stays on track. Our partnership has been key to getting to this point.”

Q: Can you share a favorite moment that stands out from the past decade?

Tiffany & Kelsey: “Definitely our ribbon cutting ceremony! We waited until our one year anniversary to hold it at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in NSB and had over 250 people in attendance! We were the first ever to have a joint ribbon cutting ceremony with the Southeast Volusia, Port Orange-South Daytona, and Ormond Beach Chambers of Commerce. We also had a community art project on-site that all of our guests participated in that we still display in our office.”
