Monday, September 11

Memorial Display

The Town of Ponce Inlet is preparing a memorial display in remembrance of the victims and the survivors of September 11th, 2001. 

We invite all citizens to pay their respects in person at our fire department located at 4680 S. Peninsula Drive between 8:00a.m.- 8:00p.m. on September 11. This display will include memorial wreaths on the lawn of the fire station in recognition of the 2,508 citizens, 343 firefighters, 77 police officers, and 55 military service members that lost their lives that day. The American flags will be posted at half-staff throughout the Town.

Here’s how it works: walk into any participating shop and ask for a Passport or Download one here. . Start collecting stamps/signatures no earlier than 5:00pm and make sure you are at The Abbey Bar (117 N. Woodland Blvd.) by 7:45pm.

Drawing for prizes will begin at 8:00pm inside The Abbey Bar. You must be present to win prizes. If you arrive dressed to the theme, you will receive a raffle ticket for another chance at a prize!

Facing financial ruin and a stalled acting career, Nicholas Cage, playing a fictionalized version of himself, accepts a million-dollar gig to attend a superfan’s birthday party. Only problem is the superfan, who lives off the coast of Spain, is head of an international crime family, and is wanted by the CIA. Cage is enlisted to help capture the man, but in his interactions with the superfan, the two of them come to develop a bromance. Complications ensue and plot twists follow in this highly enjoyable comedy. Instructor Paul Marino will introduce the film, raise questions to ponder and host a post-viewing discussion. Midtown Music Concert Series: The Franchise Players Band featuring Andrew Luv

The group, featuring Andrew Luv, blends elements of soul, pop, smooth jazz, hip hop and more for a unique and refreshing musical experience.

Let it Be: The Beatles Tribute

The Star Spangled Summer Concert Series is an annual free summer concert series that takes place on Saturday nights at the world’s most famous beach’s historic Bandshell located on the North end of the Daytona Beach Boardwalk and is an experience both locals and visitors alike look forward to every summer. The Star Spangled Summer Concert Series is known for bringing the best Tribute Bands to the beach and will begin the 2023 concert series on May 27th and continue every Saturday night through September 30th. The family-friendly concerts make for a star-spangled summer of fun for everyone.

Back by popular demand, the night sky will come alive with the “Bud Light-Lights Up Daytona Fireworks Display” over the ocean after the shows. Concerts begin at 7:15 PM and fireworks over the ocean follow the concerts at 9:45 PM.
The public is invited to bring their entire family. Attendees may bring their own chairs. VIP seat tickets will go on sale on Ticketmaster starting Friday, April 21. Ticketmaster will continue selling VIP tickets to each show through 2 PM the day before each show. Friends of the Bandshell will also sell VIP tickets at the Bandshell on the day of the show at 5 PM. VIP tickets are $15 per person and chairs may be rented for $5 each.

Bandshell parking is available at the nearby Ocean Center garage and surface lots. Attendees parking in the Ocean Center garage can take the pedestrian overpass to the Bandshell, purchase concessions and drinks, and enjoy the live show!

Additionally, while appreciating cool evenings with live music under the stars, concert attendees may stroll the boardwalk, play skeeball or video games while enjoying food and drinks, and the street performers on the world’s most famous Boardwalk.

15th Annual Kailynne Quartier Memorial Ride

The South Daytona Citizens Alert Council and the South Daytona Lions Club, along with the South Daytona Police Department, are hosting the 15th Annual Kailynne Quartier Memorial Ride, Saturday, September 16, 2023. All types of vehicles are welcome. Kailynne Quartier, a beautiful 13-year-old, lost her heroic battle with brain cancer on July 16, 2007. Kailynne was the daughter of Retired Captain Doug Quartier, a 35-year veteran of our Police Department. The Memorial Ride is a fundraising event, with the proceeds benefitting numerous local charities, programs, and foundations. The Ride will start at the South Daytona Police Department with Pre-ride registration from 8:00 AM – 9:45 AM. Sharply at 10:00 AM (kickstands up), the Ride will commence leaving the parking lot. Stops will be made at New Smyrna Beach Harley Davidson, Deland Police Department, and Bruce Rossmeyer’s Harley Davidson (Destination Daytona). The final stop will be the Piggotte Community Center in South Daytona, 504 Big Tree Road, South Daytona. A lunch with door prizes will be served after the ride. A $20.00 donation for each participant is appreciated.

DeLand Craft Show

The DeLand Craft Show will return to Downtown DeLand on September 23 and 24, 2023 showcasing a diverse array of handcrafted treasures from talented artisans and makers. It will be held along Woodland Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission and parking are free.

The Show features more than 100 artists and makers from all over the state. Visitors will find a wide variety of handmade items, including jewelry, pottery, wood crafts, bath & body products, apparel, and more. There will also be food vendors on site.

The DeLand Craft Show is presented by the MainStreet DeLand Association a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with special thanks to gold-level sponsor Sit Means Sit Dog Training.
