Wheels Off the Sand for Front-Elevated Vehicles Now in Effect

Volusia County is ensuring beach safety by prohibiting front-elevated vehicles. County Council unanimously approved Sheriff Mike Chitwood’s requested ban on August 15, effective immediately on August 21.

Implementing this change will result in an unobstructed perspective for drivers. Motor vehicles displaying alterations in suspension, frame or chassis that culminate in a front fender height alteration exceeding four inches in contrast to the rear will not be granted access. These fenders are like shields for the wheels to stop things like mud, water and other similar substances.
