61st Annual Art Fiesta

Enjoy over 200 fine artists & crafters, food, and live entertainment when the 61st Annual Art Fiesta returns to Old Fort Park on Saturday, Feb. 25, and Sunday, Feb. 26.
This year’s music headliner is Valerie Gillespie, set to appear with her ensemble during Saturday’s lineup from 1:45 to 3 p.m. She’s played alongside national icons including Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Dionne Warwick, and many others while touring the United States and Japan. Frequently featured as a soloist with The Florida Orchestra, she also teams up to play The Suncoast Jazz Classic, The Clearwater Jazz Holiday, and our own New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival while producing numerous albums showcasing her talents at vocals, saxophone, flute, and clarinet.

F.R.E.S.H. Book Festival (Fiction, Romance, Erotica, Spiritual and Health) is one of the largest book festivals for minority and indie self-published authors in Florida. The festival began in 2011, and this year’s festival will take place on Feb. 23-25 in Daytona Beach with 45 authors, and speakers, local, statewide, national, and international authors. The book festival will be held at the Julia and Charles Cherry, Cultural, and Educational Center, 925 George W Engram Blvd, Daytona Beach, Fl. 32114.
The three-day event starts with the F.R.E.S.H. Book Film Festival, sponsored by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at the Captain Willie Miller Instructional Center. The evening will feature two films and a workshop by renowned filmmakers Marlon Mccaulsky and Lamont Gant and purchasing of movie tickets are only $5.
Friday. the book festival begins at noon, with a performance by the Palm Terrace Elementary School Music class reenacting the Black History book by local author Rekia Beverly. The book festival will have two full days of workshops, interviews, speeches, excellent dinners, and awards. This year renowned authors and book festival executives will share knowledge, sell books, and explain how they have survived and flourished in the mainstream and Black literacy/book business. Some of the renowned headline authors are Stevin “Hedake” Smith, Curtis Bunn- CEO/Black Book Festival of Atlanta, David Simon-CEO/National Black Book Festival UK, Janis Kearney-CEO/ WOW Publishing, Elizabeth Randall- Paranormal and Ghost Story Writer, W. C. Filmore- Daytona Beach Mystery Writer, and Rekia Beverly- Author the Children’s Teacher.
On Friday the day ends with a Kaleidoscope of poetry and music, to relax and let your hair down. Saturday ends with recording artist DeMarKus, and a Regional Poetry Slam, at the Midtown Cafe.

For the second straight year, the Savannah Bananas are bringing their world-famous baseball circus back to Jackie Robinson Ballpark for two nights – February 22-23, 2023. Affectionately referred to as ‘The Greatest Show in Baseball’ (ESPN SC Featured, August 2021) with an atmosphere that would ‘…make most MLB teams jealous (Sports Illustrated, June 2019), the Bananas have re-imagined what it means to experience a baseball game. After selling out back-to-back nights in Mobile, Alabama during the 2021 One City World Tour, the Bananas will take the show farther than ever before in 2022.
In addition to the cast of characters, dancers, performers, mascots, and musicians, the Bananas are bringing their own twist of baseball to Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Banana Ball is a fast-paced, action-packed style of baseball with rules that include no bunting, no walks, a two-hour time limit, fans catching foul balls for outs, batters stealing first base, and a one-on-one tiebreaker showdown at the end of the game. Banana Ball has been featured in stories on ESPN, Baseball America, Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe, and more.
The Bananas will face off against their rival, the Party Animals. The rosters for both teams will be filled by independent players who have been scouted, tried out, and signed contracts for the 2023 Banana Ball World Tour.

Enjoy gourmet food served out of food trucks, plus live music by Daniel ”Saxman” Fuqua, at the City of Daytona Beach Shores’ Food Trucks event from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, February 24th.
This Food Trucks event will be held at the Shores Pavilion and McElroy Park, 3048 S. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach Shores. Admission is free.
Entertainment will be provided Daniel “Saxman” Fuqua starting at 5:00 p.m. on the Shores Pavilion Stage. Daniel says, “MUSIC EVOKES SO MANY EMOTIONS. That’s what I love most about music. Wine Walk

The Wine Walk is a monthly Progressive Wine Tasting event that takes place on Flagler Avenue, Saturday, February 25th, from 1pm -7 pm in New Smyrna Beach. Wine Walk tasting passports are $30 and include 20 tasting tickets along with a keepsake wine glass, map, and listing of each host locations wines for the month. During the event, locations offer both one and multi-ticket wines to sample of the 100 featured wines for the month. Those who want to share their 20 tasting tickets with a friend may purchase an additional wine glass for $5 CASH. Flagler Avenue will NOT be closed for this event which takes place inside host locations all along Flagler Avenue.

The Concert Band & Soldiers’ Chorus are the oldest and largest of The U.S. Army Field Band’s performing components. Founded in 1946 and 1957 respectively, these two ensembles combine to present joint concerts on their national tours. They have performed in all 50 states and 30 foreign countries for audiences totaling hundreds of millions.
The 60-member Concert Band and 29-member Soldiers’ Chorus perform regularly in some of the most famous concert halls in the world, and just as often in the humblest auditoriums in the smallest of communities. The joining of these two ensembles allows them to offer unparalleled versatility of programming, ranging from orchestral masterworks and operatic arias to Sousa marches, jazz classics, and Broadway musicals. The band and chorus also perform independently, and have recently shared the stage with such ensembles as the Boston Pops, the Cincinnati Pops, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to their national tours, formal concerts, chamber recitals, and educational outreach, members of the Concert Band & Soldiers’ Chorus frequently represent the Army at formal and ceremonial functions, including the Presidential Inaugural Parade, presidential funerals, the Army All-American Bowl, and diplomatic efforts overseas.

Second Saturday Laser Rock Concert shows include a wide variety of musical genres including classics Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin as well as country music, pop and more. Tickets may be purchased in advance and seating is limited. Entry to the show is through the Lohman Planetarium lobby entrance and there is no late admittance. Snacks, beer, and soft drinks can be purchased at the Museum to be enjoyed during the show.
