If you have any questions, please direct them to the organizers of the camps. Camps have been posted as open at time of posting, but may fill up soon without notice.

County-managed Camps

Volusia County Parks, Recreation, and Culture will be managing Summer Camp at James Street Park in South Daytona. Please see below on how to register. Volusia County Parks, Recreation and Culture has scheduled supervised play, games and trips daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 13, 2022 through July 29, 2022 for children ages 5 to 12. Five-year-olds must have completed kindergarten. Programs close promptly at 5:30 p.m. Children picked up late will be assessed a $10 late fee per 15 minutes, starting at 5:31 p.m.

The $80 weekly fee includes all field trip entrance fees. Regardless of your child’s attendance, there will be no reduction in weekly fees. There is a one-time $20 non-refundable registration fee per child to participate in the Summer Recreation Program. T-shirts are included in the fee and must be worn on all field trip days. All fees must be paid by check or money order on Mondays only. CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Checks should be made payable to the County of Volusia, and a driver’s license number must be on all checks.

A virtual registration will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022, starting at 9 am until camp reaches capacity. Interested families should email summercamp@volusia.org at 9:00 am. Please include parent(s) and child(s) full name, complete address, and site interested in. Emails that come in prior to 9 am or that do not include all required information will be deemed incomplete and not considered for a camp slot. If you email before the designated time for registration, the emails will not be considered. We will be using “time stamped received” for accepting emails during the registration period.

Parks, Recreation and Culture has the right to limit the number of registrants at each of its summer sites.

Summer camp scholarships are available to income-eligible children through Volusia County’s Community Assistance Division. Families with children entering first through sixth grade and ages 5-12 are eligible, 5 year olds must have completed kindergarten prior to camp to be eligible.

Scholarship awards are based on income-eligibility and will be awarded according to funding availability.

The Little Theatre Summer Wonderland Camp

Theater is for everyone! The confidence and creativity that comes from performing and from crafting a show shines through in every aspect of life.

Plus, it’s a lot of fun. There’s a lot more to acting than just speaking lines. Campers will learn movement, voice, storytelling, stagecraft and more from a local pro!

  • 9am-noon, Monday thru Friday for campers entering Grades 1-4
  • 1 pm-4 pm, Monday thru Friday for campers entering Grades 5-8

Each camp is $100. Take one, two or all three!

Week 1 – June 6 – 10

A mystery unfolds and it’s up to the Camp Wonderland detectives to solve the case! But maybe one of the detectives is actually the culprit!

Campers will learn the basics of theater such as stage directions, vocal projection, pantomime and movement.  Participants will develop characters based on famous and not so famous mysteries.  They will work individually and in a group, using their new skills and stagecraft projects to find clues, set a trap and catch the bad guy.  A final presentation will be performed for friends and family on the final day of camp.

Week 2 – June 13-17

Get transported back to the 50’s!

Campers will learn the basics of theater such as stage directions, vocal projection, pantomime and movement.  Participants will develop stories based on some of the most iconic characters and historic events of the fabulous fifties.   They will work individually and in a group, using their new skills to bring to life a new story with some familiar music, history, and characters.  A final presentation will be performed for friends and family on the final day of camp.

Week 3 – June 20-24

Campers will learn the basics of theater such as stage directions, vocal projection, pantomime and movement.  Participants will develop characters based on all types of performances: dance, humor, music, puppetry, and magic, to name a few.  They will work individually and in a group, to put on a variety show. A final presentation will be performed for friends and family on the final day of camp.

ACA Summer Art Camp

Atlantic Center for the Arts’ Summer Art Camp is held at ACA Harris House and Yurick Studios in downtown New Smyrna Beach. Each weekly session gives kids an opportunity to explore ideas of art and culture through hands-on experience with a variety of art forms. There is downtime for snacks, stretching, games, and lunch. Participants will meet new friends and take home artwork every week. Camp administrator, Ms. Peggy is looking forward to a great summer!

Students will learn the art of watercolor painting by creating whimsical watercolor wildlife. Monday, Beachy Critters, Tuesday Jungle cats, Wednesday wild patterned animals, and Thursday Teens choice! Get Loose. Not your grandma’s watercolor class!

Robots & Donuts!

Children will combine the styles of both DaVinci and Pollock to create their own unique artistic robot.

Pantomime

In this summer camp class, your child will learn basic stage pantomime skills. They will play acting games and be engaged in techniques to develop non-verbal communication. Your child will collaborate with other students by writing, rehearsing, and producing an original pantomime play. Little to no acting experience is required.  Last day of class will conclude with a live performance for ages 6-11.

Improvisation
Instructor: Mike Philips
Week 4, June 27th Monday-Thursday 1:30am-5:30pm
Ages: 12 & up
The student will learn basic improvisation acting skills. Students will be engaged in techniques on improvisation and ad-libbing. Your child will collaborate with the other students and produce an original improvisation performance.  Little or no acting experience is required. Last day of class will conclude with a live performance.

Creatures & Characters

Week 5, July 11th Monday-Thursday 9:00am-1:00pm
Ages: 6-11
It’s time for creative campers to invent their own characters and creatures inspired by popular film (Tim Burton, Disney & Pixar), monsters and Magna. They will draw, paint, work with clay, sculpt & more to bring a portfolio of imaginary, original creatures to life! (Ages 6-11).

Art Explorations

Week 6, July 18th Monday-Thursday 9:00am-1:00pm
Ages: 6-11
Here’s a camp for any young artist that loves to create and try new materials to showcase their unique vision! Each day campers will be introduce a new technique and a new medium to explore. We’ll sculpt, paint, paper mache, make prints, work with fiber and more for hands on learning geared to exploration of media as the primary goal. Dress for mess (Ages 6-11).

Halifax Humane Society Paws Camp

Your little one will paws-itively love the Halifax Humane Society, Inc.‘s Summer Camp! This 1-week camp is available for nine different weeks from June 13 to August 12. Online registration is required by visiting https://bit.ly/3DuNQI0.

Please note that there have been some changes to the summer camp program at HHS. Time change- 8am to 4pm instead of 9am to 3pm – this allows working parents more flexibility. Camp is for kids 6-13.

Cost change- $150.00 allows us to pay the teacher for ten additional hours.

Summer Sports Programs:

South Daytona Summer Soccer

Summer Soccer Registration is now open! This is a coed recreational league with an emphasis on developing the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, courage and a sense of belonging. Children new to the sport are welcome. Every child will be encouraged to play and have fun doing it! To encourage kids to finish what they start; no refunds will be given. Jerseys, shorts, and socks are included in registration cost. Players will need to provide cleats and shin guards.

Registrations after 4:00pm Friday, June 3, 2022 will result in a $20 late fee.

Practices & Games will be twice a week Monday-Friday at either 5:30pm or 6:30pm. Practices run June 13th-July 8th. Games run July 11th-August 26th.
