Voting isn’t just for adults at the Volusia County Public Library!
Throughout September, elementary-age kids can visit their local library branch, where they can register to vote, make campaign posters and stickers, and vote for their favorite character to be president of the children’s room.

All 14 branches will host passive programs in the children’s rooms in September. Weekly videos will be shown on the library’s YouTube Channel at @VolusiaLibrary. Links will also be available through the library Facebook page and website.
The weekly videos will introduce the candidates: Reid A. Page, B.A. Reader and Olive Books (pictured above). Children can learn about their campaign platforms and watch a mock debate featuring library staff dressed as the candidates.
Tune in on September 30 to see who will be elected president of the children’s room.
This Life, Liberty + Libraries program was made possible by a $2,500 Florida Humanities grant, which was matched by the Volusia County Council. The Volusia County Public Library was one of 12 library systems to receive a grant this year.
To participate, children can visit their local library branch or log on to VolusiaLibrary.org/kids starting September 1, 2020.
