An announcement on July 17, 2020 from Port Orange Community Trust
It is with great sadness that the Port Orange Community Trust Board of Directors has made the decision to cancel our 25th Family Days this year. (The event was originally scheduled for September 24 – 27)
This was not an easy decision to make. An as nonprofit organization, we depend on Family Days, as well as the Spring Brew and Food Fest as fundraisers for our annual community giving – both of which have been canceled.
Family Days in Port Orange Canceled to Avoid Large Crowds during COVID-19 Pandemic
With 50,000 guests expected over a four-day period, we simply could not find a way to give the community a safe environment while still hosting an event that would be profitable to support our organization and annual giving.
POCT is committed to continue its mission; “To foster planning, funding and administration for programs and activities which strengthen family lives, individual values and potential community and civic responsibility.”
Ways to Support Port Orange Community Trust
We will continue hosting smaller events, both virtually and in person, partnering with local restaurants, hosting our Movies Under the Stars and Food Truck nights, and adding to this line up as well!
On August 22, we will host a Poker Run and Silent Auction, an October Golf Tournament and our first ever Lakeside Battle of the Food Trucks on September 26. Watch our Facebook page for details on these upcoming events.
We appreciate your support as we navigate through these changes and adapt our events in order to bring community together in a safe way, while raising funds for our area.
We will be launching a donation platform where you can give to a specific area that POCT supports! You can choose to give to Veterans, Scholarships, the arts, Seniors, food pantry initiatives and more. We appreciate your support as we transition and make changes in the way we have always operated.
Thank you to our Presenting Sponsors, Halifax Health, VyStar Credit Union, One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and The City of Port Orange.
