Yaupon Brothers American Tea Company launched a “Quarantine Survival Kit” that promotes health, wellness and social distancing while also supporting the hungry in our community through donations to Feeding Florida.
Yaupon Brothers American Tea Company Launches Quarantine Survival Kit That Also Feeds the Hungry
The Quarantine Survival Kit includes a canister of their antioxidant-rich, yaupon holly tea, a bottle of the Yaupon Brothers’ lavender coconut hand sanitizer, a KN95 personal protective mask, and a social distancing “tea-shirt”, made locally in New Smyrna by Beach Embroidery & Screen Printing. Kits run $65, and can be purchased on the Yaupon Brothers’ website.

Yaupon Brothers makes tea from the Yaupon Holly; a Florida native tree that is the only caffeinated plant species in North America. They wild-harvest the leaves in New Smyrna Beach and process the tea in their Edgewater factory. Quarantine Survival Kit customers can choose between the six varieties of tea, four of which are proprietary blends and two are ancient, traditional Florida teas.

“In these unprecedented times, we wanted a way to be there for our customers, support local businesses where we can, and give back to those in our community who need it most. Our factory is close to the local food bank, and I was astounded by the need we see on a daily basis. We wanted to do something and Feeding Florida was the right charity for us to support,” said Yaupon Brothers CEO, Bryon White.

“For us, it’s personal. I have two daughters, one is a doctor who is fighting this virus on the front lines, the other is sheltering with her to be able to help look after our young grandkids. The impact of COVID-19 is very real, and by introducing this Quarantine Survival Kit, it’s a small way for us to help our customers stay safe. The health benefits of our tea combined with sanitizer, PPE and social distancing messaging – it’s a great package,” said Mark Steele. “You can see how appreciative our customers are by what they post on Facebook. I’m really proud to be a part of it.”

$20 from every purchase will go to Feeding Florida, the state’s network of food banks working to solve hunger. Their statewide network unites 12 member food banks to provide a healthy, adequate, and consistent food supply to every community every day.
Feeding Florida is a Partner State Association of Feeding America, the nation’s leading hunger-relief organization. The Yaupon Brothers’ donation will be ear-marked for COVID disaster relief. In the first three days alone, the company raised and donated over $700 for charity, which funded over 4,000 meals to feed food-insecure neighbors throughout Florida. The Yaupon Brothers will continue to donate weekly for as long as this crisis continues. More information about Feeding Florida can be found at www.feedingflorida.org.
Yaupon Brothers American Tea Company was founded in 2015 by two brothers, Bryon and Kyle White and former mentor turned business partner, Mark Steele. They make several blends of tea that are made from a Florida native plant called the Yaupon Holly; a naturally caffeinated, antioxidant-rich superfood that was consumed for thousands of years by several Native American Tribes in the southeastern United States. The great tasting, tannin-free tea is currently available in six different varieties on their website including American Green, Fire Roasted Warrior, Lavender Coconut, Florida Chai, Natural Wellness and Raspberry Rose.
