Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a public safety officer? Are you interested in their daily operations and training?
You might have questions about why and how they do what they do. This is your chance to ask those questions while getting an in-depth experience into the world of public safety in Daytona Beach Shores.

Do you want to conduct a traffic stop or shoot a law enforcement issued firearm during a standardized police training course? Do you want to pump water from a fire truck or extricate someone who’s trapped in a vehicle?
The Citizens Academy in Daytona Beach Shores offers you the experience of one-on-one and group instruction with open communication and full transparency.
Beginning in January 2020, for approximately three months with morning classes offered once a week, Daytona Beach Shores residents, business owners and their employees 18 years and older are invited to take part in police and fire training.
Classes include but are not limited to:
- SWAT training
- firearms training with a range day
- conducting traffic stops, criminal investigations
- crime scene processing
- defensive tactics
- fire operations
The academy is offered on a first come basis and class size is limited. There is no fee to attend.
