Creature, the comic play by Heidi Schreck set in medieval England, is coming to the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach August 15 – 18 with three evening performances and two matinées. The Art Center is located at 1414 Art Center Avenue in New Smyrna Beach.

New Play at Atlantic Center for the Arts this August
The play is produced by Positively Florida Theater Company and based on the true story of Margery Kempe, the brewery owner and pub mistress who in the year 1401 had visions of the devil and Jesus following the birth of her son and tried to parlay them into sainthood.
Aware that mystic visions are a prerequisite for being named a saint, Margery sets out to demand her due, following a hilariously jagged path through the dictates of church and culture while dodging accusations of heresy and her town’s memory of Margery the sultry pub owner.
Directed by Kelly Grounds and Gretchen Pettigrew, Creature is loosely designed as a comic “morality play” like those traveling theater troupes took from town to town in medieval England.
