Q: What inspired you to start your unique boutique in NSB?

A: My love for NSB started many years ago. I was, and still am, a clothing rep for stores on Flagler Avenue and throughout Florida. During the early years, I built a strong customer base and made many friends along the way; this made NSB a natural choice. My husband and I have since moved to Edgewater and our love for NSB is growing daily.

Q: Pepper’s Boutique is filled with so many beautiful items, how do you decide what to put in the store?

A: I travel the world and go to many trade shows. This gives me the opportunity to see the newest trends before the public does. My goal is to have the latest styles with a unique are.

Q: How long have you been in the fashion industry?

A: I started in the fashion industry when I was 18 years old; I am 60 now…In other words, many years.

Q: What are some of your favorite designers that you carry in the boutique?

A: Frank Lyman, Onex Shoes, Insight, Ravel and Articles of Society Jeans to name a few.

Q: What advice would you give someone who wants to open their own boutique?

A: Be very passionate about the industry; it’s a lot of work and takes years to cultivate relationships with manufacturers. Buy for your demographics and provide wonderful service.

Q: Do you create any of your own pieces?

A: Yes! This Valentine’s Day I will be launching my new label, Peppereli, at the Las Vegas Trade Show. It will soon be coming to Pepper’s Boutique as well. Also, for the past three years I have been the merchandiser for Tesoro Moda (which means treasures in fashion). I am currently collaborating with photographer Larry Rocha on creating a line of images on our clothing. These will be exclusive prints only available at Pepper’s.

Q: How did you get started in the fashion industry?

A: At a young age I lived in Miami and ran three department stores. I started from the bottom at Richards, a famous department store, and worked my way up. Now I have my own retail store and it’s a dream come true!

Q: What are your future plans for Pepper’s?

A: Really anything is possible. My husband, Howard, and I are planning to grow Pepper’s throughout Florida. We dream big and love working together.

Q: What makes Pepper’s Boutique different from others?

A: We carry everything from jeans to gowns and everything in between. We have a wonderful staff and give personal service. We have created a fun atmosphere and our customers have been our friends.
